Sakura Washboard

The traditional washboard is a convenient tool that is said to be the origin of hand washing. It has been passed down from generation to generation because it removes dirt more effectively without damaging the fabric than scrubbing it by hand.

The most common dirt problems in modern times are mud stains on collars and sleeves, and mud stains on socks.
We purposely made it compact so that you can solve these problems without stress. The cherry wood used is moderately hard and water resistant, and best of all, it has a bright color that does not fade even with continued use, so you can enjoy washing while feeling the soft warmth of the wood.
It looks cute when hung up, so it's a great tool to leave out in the kitchen or laundry room.

Fill a bucket or bowl with lukewarm water, moisten the stained area, apply detergent, then place the washboard under the stained area and gently scrub. The wavy curves of the washboard will hit the stain just right and easily remove it.
You can then just put it in the wash with your other laundry. This little pre-wash will make all the difference in the final result.

Usage notes

  • Do not use for any purpose other than washing.
  • Leaving it wet may cause mold or deterioration, so be sure to dry it thoroughly after use.
  • Avoid storing near open flames.
  • Because it is a natural material, reddish brown water comes out when drying. The amount of water varies depending on the part of the wood, but this does not affect the quality of the product. Please note that there is a risk of color transfer when drying the washboard.
